                                                                           17 March 2008

Dear Parents

We have once again come to the end of another term and learners will have to account for themselves when the assessments are collated. The educators have been busy with the progress reports and these will be handed out soon.

Staff

Mr Taukobong has recovered from his broken arm and is back at school. We want to thank Mr Mpopo for standing in for him during this time. Mrs Balerileng has had an operation on her foot and Mrs Milanzie has been substituting for her. Thank you to her for that as well. Mrs Haffejee has been booked off and we want to wish her well with her recovery.

Fees

Parents must please keep fees up to date as paying out a lump sum in September will be difficult for most people. Please ensure that fees are paid to ensure that all planned budgetary items can continue. Letters have been given to all pre-School parents to ensure that their fees are paid in advance and up to date by the 7th of every month. They should have paid for at least 4 months by the time the school starts in April. Please pay at the bank and send a copy of the deposit slip to school to update our own records. Parents are requested to ensure that that the name of the child and the class is clearly put as a reference on the deposit slip.

Raffle

Parents have received raffle booklets and letters explaining how this works. Please ensure that you help your child to sell these tickets as the money raised will be used toward the payment of the roof over the bubble. Parents will be informed about the date for the draw and the ultimate winners.

School uniform

We shall be using the winter uniform(Track suit) again next term and parents are asked to please check the uniform of their child and ensure that it is in good repair. Please note that the drimac is only to be used “over the jersey” and not by itself. Please also ensure that learners are using track shoes and not fancy high heel shoes etc.

Discipline

There is a real cause for concern from learners who are bullying and hurting others including smaller children. This is apparent every day in the situations that have to be investigated by the school. It appears to be sparked off by “TEASING” and parents are requested to speak to their child about this matter.

Academics

Once again learners in various grades had to be reminded again and again that they must hand in assessments that have not been done. In some cases, learners had to be given zero due to their not handing in, despite the constant reminding to submit from the educators. This must be addressed by parents and the learners must be told that this cannot be tolerated at any costs.

Reading

Parents are once again requested to ensure that their child read as much as possible. Learners are also to have a novel in their suitcases at all times during the school day for reading after work has been completed or during the computer periods when they work on a buddy system, with one working on the computer while the other reads his/her novel.

In conclusion, it is Clement Stone who said, “ If you employed study, thinking, and planning daily, you could develop and use the power that can change the course of your destiny.” Help your child to make these words a part of his/her every day life.
